The University of Redlands was founded in 1907 and located on land donated by banker and Baptist layman Karl G. Wells. Now independent, the university maintains an informal relationship with the American Baptist church. Redlands is located on 160 acres. The college fosters independent thinking with the Johnston Center for Integrative Studies and offers graduate programs in Communicative Disorders, Geographic Information Systems and the School of Music. It also holds a geographic information systems laboratory, physics/laser/photonics lab, and laboratory of anthropology.
