ORU was founded in 1965 and is the largest charismatic Christian university in the world. Students attend from every state in the U.S. The university is named for its founder, televangelist Oral Roberts. ORU educates the body, mind and spirit. All students are required to sign a pledge stating they will live according to the university’s honor code. Prohibited activities include lying, cursing, smoking, drinking, gambling, illicit sexual acts, and homosexual behavior. A “business casual” dress code is in place and restrictions for men on hair length and facial and earrings are enforced. Richard Roberts, oral Roberts’ son, was named President in 1993.
