Augustana College was founded in 1860–in Chicago. The westward movement took “Augie” to Paxton, IL in 1864; to Marshall, WI in 1869; to Beloit, IA in 1881; to Canton, SD in 1884; and finally, to Sioux Falls in 1918 when it merged with the Lutheran Normal School.

U.S. News and World Report often recognizes Augustana as a top ten “Midwest Comprehensive College”. The college sits on 100 acres and is a college of the church.
